Important City Codes

DOMESTIC ANIMALS:
(Zoning) City Codes allows the presence of three (3) licensed dogs per residential dwelling unit. Kennels are permitted in B-2 and Industrial zoned areas only. Vicious dogs as defined by the Ohio State Law are regulated. The breed of "Pit Bull" dog is prohibited within the City.

HOME SALES:
(Garage, porch, lawn, etc.) shall be limited to seven (7) days duration, not more than three (3) per year, not more frequent than once every two months, and between the hours of 9:00am and 9:00pm

CARS, TRUCKS, and OTHER VEHICLES:
May be parked on a public street, unless otherwise prohibited, but must be kept in operable and licensed condition. Vehicles may be parked on private property in designated parking areas only, such as developed driveways, and must be operable and licensed. A vehicle may not be parked in a front yard or in a manner that blocks sidewalks, streets, or alleys.

HOME OPERATED BUSINESS:
(Home occupation) is permitted in residential areas, if it remains non-apparent to the public. A home occupation is one in which the resident or family member is engaged in its operation and the business does not occupy more than 25% of the residence. An accessory structure may be utilized, if the original use of the structure is not diminished (a garage must be able to accommodate the vehicle its design dictated).

ILLEGAL USE:
Illegal use of a structure or portion thereof is prohibited. Use of a structure for business when it is zoned or designed for residential use is illegal.

FENCES:
Fences are permitted as long as the rear yard height does not exceed six feet (6'); front yard height may not exceed four feet (4') extending beyond the building or setback line. Fences are permitted to be placed on a property line. All swimming pools (24' depth or 180 sq. ft.) shall be completely surrounded by a six foot (6') high fence.

SWIMMING POOLS:
Shall be located in the rear yard only and shall not cover over 10% of the total lot area.

SIGNS:
Shall be required to have a permit recognizing placement, type of construction, and materials. Sunflower or portable signs do require a permit. Signs are not permitted in a residential area.

POULTRY and HOOFED ANIMALS:
Poultry and hoofed animals require a permit application

JUNK ACCUMULATION:
Junk accumulation and litter shall not be permitted on any public or private property within the City.

GARBAGE and RUBBISH COLLECTION:
Collection person or firm may not engage in the collection of such without first obtaining a license with the City Codes and Permits Department.

GARBAGE and RUBBISH SERVICE:
Garbage and rubbish service is required of property owners. Receptacles may be placed at the curb line front after 6:00 pm the day preceding the scheduled day of pick-up and not before.

VEHICLE REPAIR:
Repair of vehicles other than the owners of the property in residential areas is strictly prohibited.
