Proposals for funding of Fiscal Year
2001 activities were reviewed by the City's Community Development Manager and Mayor's
Administration. The review process is held to determine whether the proposed activities
are eligible and to rank the proposals based on overall priorities and national objectives
that have been endorsed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Recommendations were prepared by the Community Development Manager and the Mayor and these
recommendations were forwarded to the City Council's Public Affairs Committee.
The Council's Public Affairs
Committee reviewed the draft of the Action Plan, which was published in the local
newspaper and other news media, to provide information about the planning process. City
Council held a public hearing on March 5, 2001 to allow citizens an opportunity to comment
on the draft of the Annual One Year Plan and FY 2001 activities for the proposed use of
funds.
On April 3, 2001, City Council voted
on the resolution to make application for HOME/Block Grant Funds for FY 2001-2002. A
summary of the proposed plan was published in the local newspapers to encourage interested
parties to review and comment on the One Year Use of Funds Plan. The published summary
described the purpose and contents of the Action Plan. Any comments submitted in writing,
or presented orally at the public hearing are considered in preparing the final draft for
submission to the HUD. A summary of these comments and the City's reasons for not
accepting any of the comments will be included in the draft of the proposed One Year
Action.
