Division of Police
The Division of Police employs 102 sworn officers and 46 civilian personnel. The following specialized career tracks are available to sworn police officers:
  • Detective
  • K-9 Unit
  • Traffic Bureau
  • Community Policing
  • School Resource Officer
  • DARE
  • SWAT
  • Hostage Negotiation

 
Division of Fire
The Division of Fire employs 105 sworn firefighters and 3 civilian personnel. The following specialized career tracks are available to sworn firefighters:
  • Fire Safety Inspector
  • Emergency Medical Staff
  • Arson Investigation
  • Fire/EMS Training
  • Hazardous Materials Rescue
  • Confined Space Rescue

All persons interested in a career as a Mansfield Police Officer or Firefighter must take and pass the City's civil service examination. Persons who pass the examination are placed on a Civil Service List and are eligible for hire for two years.

The next civil service examination will be given on Saturday August 9, 2008. Police exam at 10:00 A.M. and Fire exam at 1:00 P.M.

AGE REQUIREMENTS
 POLICE - Must be AT LEAST 21 YEARS OLD but NOT YET 35 years old
ON THE DATE OF THE EXAMINATION.

FIRE - Must be AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD but NOT YET 31 years old
ON THE DATE OF THE EXAMINATION.
