Street, Sign and Signal Department
Signals
Some of the
responsibilities of the Street, Sign and Signal Department are the maintenance and
preventative maintenance to signals and controllers, poles, overhead and underground
cable, crosswalk lights, loop detectors, flashing crosswalks, flashing warning lights,
school zone flashers, digitizer, fire circuits, volc alarms, time clocks, street scape
lights and overhead sign lighting.
Other Projects in 2000
included:
- Repaired various street scape lights.
- Replaced back panel at First Street
and Mulberry Street.
- Removed turn arrow from coming up
Ashland Road at Fifth Street.
- Monthly inspection/corrections to
pre-emption equipment and downtown signal timing between Adams Street and Franklin Street
and on Sixth Street at Adams Street.
- Removed rotten pole next to 109
Willis Avenue.
- Made repairs to underground electric
for street lighting at Pinecrest Avenue and Wellington.
- Moved electric panel from attendants
building to bathroom wall in the Municipal Building parking garage.
- Replaced controller at Sixth Street
and Mullberry Street.
- Repaired or replaced Municipal
Building parking garage lights.
- Replaced two banner brackets in
street scape.
- Replaced flashing signal head at
North Main Street and Wolfe Avenue.
- Replaced city owned utility pole on
North Main Street, north of Orchard Street.
- Changed lens at Second Street and
Mulberry Street from solid lens to green arrow and yellow lens.
- Removed down guy wire and rod at the
north east corner of Park Avenue West and Adams Street.
- Replaced two broken lenses on
flashing lights south bound on Woodville Road.
- Repaired the Fourth Street Municipal
parking lot lights.
Downtown Signal
Upgrade
In 2000, there were 17
new timers and 1 new master controller replaced at the following intersections:

Assistance to other Departments
Airport:
Repaired and/or replaced security lights, ramp lights and parking lot lights
Clear Fork:
Repaired Line pulled down by tree limb, made upgrades for meters at campgrounds, added
four meters and installed heaters in the rest rooms.
Mansfield Division
of Fire: Made repairs to Fire Circuits 3, 5, 8, 15, 17 and 18; removed box 1323, made
repairs to box 378, removed circuit from Time Warner Cable line on Springmill Street from
McPherson to Reed Street, removed fire boxes at N. Main Street and Park Avenue West and
also Fourth Street and Walnut Street on south east corner, installed speakers at
Springmill Fire Station, Transferred fire circuit on Harvard Avenue due to Sprint
installing new poles.
Mansfield Division
of Police: Installed 2-8" overhead lights in the Loft of the METRICH building.
Building Maintenance:
Made repairs to various parking lot lights at the Municipal Building.
Repair Garage:
Installed wiring for new exhaust system, installed indicator light for exhaust hoses,
replaced burned out bulbs for emergency exit signs, installed 4' light fixture upstairs,
disconnected electric to alt. tester.
Sewer Repair:
Removed electric in basement and installed new service and electric for new rooms.
Water Repair:
Ran electric for new offices, installed outlets and lights for new offices, installed
tower base, turned on power for fountain in street scape and rerouted radio cable.
