City of Mansfield Street, Sign and Signal Department Line Striping In 2000, the paint machine was put into use for center lining and we continued using latex paint. The City of Mansfield has approximately 80 miles of road center lined and/or skip lined. We also paint all the school zones, crosswalks and turn arrows throughout the City. Where necessaary due to heavy traffic flow during business hours we paint or install thermoplastic with a night crew. In the last six years we have been installing thermoplastic markings for schools, turn arrows and crosswalks. With this material, we should not have to re-paint markings yearly. This material has a life span of 5 to 6 years. Also in 2000, we were able to use thermoplastic on 11 turn arrows only markings, 15 crosswalks and 3 school markings. Program Cost
In 2000, we also purchased a new crosswalk manchine for use during the 2001 program. This additional machine enabled us to make use of a second crosswalk crew during the summer months.
